Roman copper alloy hooked fitting, probably from a necklace, dating to the period c. AD 43 - 409. A rectangular, square-sectioned body with a polygonal lug with a circular perforation projecting from one end and a hook projecting from the opposite end. The hook tapers in thickness along its length, terminating in a pyramidal knob. Johns (1996, 94) discusses several gold necklace chains from the Thetford hoard which exhibit similar hooks. Similar examples in gold (KENT-0B2382) and silver (DOR-DB47E8) have been recorded on the PAS database.

An incomplete cast copper alloy jewellery fitting of Roman date. The fitting has a circular sectioned shaft, broken at one end and terminating in a loop at the other. The shaft proper is decorated in an elaborate baluster style with a triple banded collar below the loop which narrows and flares to a bulbous central swelling. This swelling is decorated with eight recessed lozenge shaped cells two of which bear traces of blue enamel. From here the shaft narrows and flares again to a double banded collar with a worn break on the base. This would probably have continued into the reign rin…

Cast copper alloy Roman object. The object is rectangular in plan and section and measures 33.1mm long, 19.22mm wide, 4.98mm thick and weighs 20.64g. The original surface survives in good condition with a dark green-grey patina, suggesting that the object may be highly leaded. There is some abrasion and tiny patches of exposed surface show as mid green. The object is engraved on one face, to one end, with a pair of clasped hands set within a circular border of dots. At the opposite end on the same face, is an engraved portrait of a Roman emperor, probably Julian (AD 355-363), diademed…
