Possible Ingot Mould. Fragment of flat tile or brick of thickness 22.7mm with a U-profile trough in its upper surface (as made) of length in excess of 53mm, Width of 22.5mm and depth of 9mm. The fabric is consistent with hand made manufacture. However, the surface finish, although showing sanded side and base, is exceptionally smooth and there is no sign of lipping from removal of a mould. The fabric is darkened to a depth of 3.5mm on the upper and side surfaces, with a glossy purple-tinted finish reminiscent of a furnace brick.
