A stone possible gaming piece of possible Roman date, AD 43 - 410. The object is formed from a very smooth circular pebble, identified by the finder as Cornish greenstone. The pebble has two shallowly convex faces and rounded sides. It would have functioned well as a counter or gaming piece. It may have been naturally formed but collected for use as a playing piece. Measurements are; diameter 24.3mm, thickness 7.5mm and weight 6.74g. The stone is dark brown, fine grained and smooth, but with a slightly pitted surface under magnification. A complete lead or lead alloy die, of Roman to Post-Medieval dating (AD 43 to AD 1700). The die is an irregular cuboid in shape, with six sides. The dots have been drilled in an unconventional manner, meaning that dots on opposing faces do not add up to a total of seven. The surfaces and edges, one side of which is damaged, are smooth, undecorated, worn and unevenly cast in places. The patina is cream coloured. The object measures 14.3mm diameter and 5.5mm thickness. The piece is a convex 'blob' of opaque black glass. The counter is sub-circular in plan, with a flat underside that features a number of air holes from the manufacture process.
