Large stone altar base dating from the Roman period, i.e. c. AD43-410. The base is complete and undamaged although the surfaces show abrasions and some marks of wear. The lower part of the base is square in section with three deep grooves and two thick bands (which are also square in cross-section) separating it from the circular top. The circular surface of the top shows a clear break from where the rest of the mile stone (i.e. the part with the inscription on) is missing. What survives of the carcing looks well-applied and neat.
