An incomplete copper-alloy headstud brooch of Roman date, c.AD 75 - 200. Mackreth 2011, Headstud Type 9a, Plate 73, no.7394 / 7412.
The head of the brooch comprises semi-circular tubular wings which act as a double lug hinge mechanism. An axis bar is retained within the hinge around which the loop of the pin remains. The pin proper no longer survives. The front of the wings are decorated with vertical ridges on the inner and outer edges along with a single recessed circular cell on each wing which would likely have contained enamel. An incomplete copper-alloy headstud brooch of Roman date, c.AD 75 - 200. Mackreth 2011, Hinged Headstud Type 10b, Plate 74, no.7426.
The head of the brooch comprises short rectangular wings, the reverse of which act as a double lug hinge mechanism. An axis bar appears to remains within the lugs. The pin loop and pin proper is lost. An integral rectangular pedestal projects from the top edge of the head with the remains of a cast loop, now lost to worn breaks.
