A heavily corroded fragment of a Roman copper-alloy Wroxeter type, bow brooch dating to c.AD 75-175.
Comprising of just the sub-oval head-plate and the top of the bow. The head-plate has possible linear decoration on the face, a break at the top and on the reverse a raised transverse ridge across the base. The curved bow has a D-shaped cross-section, being flat on the reverse, with two longitudinal grooves on the face down to a break. An incomplete copper alloy T-shaped Roman brooch, Large south-western type of AD 2nd century date. The foot and base of the pin are missing.
The wings are cylindrical and house an iron axis bar for the pin.
At the head is the stub of a pierced headplate. The head is flat and angled downwards from the wings.
Below this, the bow is angled further and tapers to the break. The front of the bow is decorated with two moulded longitudinal ridges.

An incomplete copper alloy Aucissa brooch dated to the Roman period, c. AD 43-80. Mackreth 2011, Aucissa Type 2.b, Plate 90, no.8687.
The head of the brooch is formed from a flat, rectangular panel which splits into two at the back and rolls up and round to form the integral hinge which would have held the pin mechanism. The axis bar, pin and pin mechanism are all lost.
