Iron head of an Adze, heavily corroded, dating from any point in the Roman to Modern periods. In plan, the adze has a trapezoidal head with a projecting base. In profile the adze is triangular with a gentle curve. The projecting base that fits into a haft is subsquare in section while the main blade of the tool is rectangular in section. The edge is more extensively worn in one corner, and this wear combined with the curvature of the blade indicates that the user was probably right-handed.

Large stone altar base dating from the Roman period, i.e. c. AD43-410. The base is complete and undamaged although the surfaces show abrasions and some marks of wear. The lower part of the base is square in section with three deep grooves and two thick bands (which are also square in cross-section) separating it from the circular top. The circular surface of the top shows a clear break from where the rest of the mile stone (i.e. the part with the inscription on) is missing. What survives of the carcing looks well-applied and neat. The stone used was probably a very grainy sand stone. I…

A Roman ceramic fragment from the base of an amphora. The base tapers to a blunt point and has possible traces of horizontal rilling around the exterior surface. The shape suggests that it may be a Camulodunum 189 ('carrot') amphora (Peacock and Williams class 12), which date to the first century AD. The pottery is a pale buff in colour with micaceous inclusions. The base fragment measures 97mm in length, 8 mm in thickness and is 21mm in width at the base. Amphorae were used to contain foods and liquids such as olive oil and wine.
