Incomplete Roman Colchester one-piece brooch missing its spring mechanism, pin and most of the catchplate. It measures 70.34mm in length and weighs 10.67g. 1st century AD. The wings, which are flat and rectangular in shape, span 15.05mm. From the centre of the reverse extends two broken stumps for the forward-facing hook and spring mechanism. There appear to be two vertical lines flanking either end to the front, although the entire surface of the brooch has lost its original patina.
