An incomplete copper-alloy military belt plate of Roman date, c.AD. 150 – 300. The object comprises two ovate panels joined by a narrowed integral D-shape sectioned shaft. A similar shaft extends from the opposite edge of each panel, one terminating is a transverse ridge, the other in a worn break. The panels have raised edges creating recessed cells which retain blue enamel. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn.
