Glass bead fragment. Moulded internally translucent cobalt blue glass bead fragment, discoid, of rounded profile, with a central moulded aperture of 15mm diameter. Broken with the loss of half the bead; one side of what remains is chipped. The outer surface is rough and the effect correspondingly opaque, probably from casting in a bed of fine sand. The aperture is too large to admit identification as a spindle whorl of this period. Suggested date: Roman, 43-410 Diameter: 35mm, Thickness: 14.2mm, Weight: 8.50gms
