A pointed flint handaxe of Lower Palaeolithic (c. 500,000 - 300,000 BC) date. The tool has been made from a large flint nodule. At the butt end there remains a portion of the original cortex. The tool tapers upwards from the rounded butt, decreasing gradually in width and thickness towards the rounded point. There are several broad flake removal scars, which radiate downwards and outwards from the butt end, whilst the edges have received much finer retouching. The reverse has less evidence of working, but there are several broad flake removal scars near the butt. The flint is a pati…

Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint pendant of possible Prehistoric date, though a more Modern date cannot be ruled out. The pendant is a drop-shaped nodule of flint with a perforation of diameter 4.14mm at the rounded end. The perforation appears to have been drilled through the flint, though some chipping is apparent around the edges of the perforation on one face. One face of the pendant is relatively flat while the other has a vertical medial ridge with faces rising to join it. The flint has only been roughly knapped on this latter face.

The broken tip from a large flint 'long blade' implement. The flint is pale grey-blue in colour. The artefact has been provisionally dated to the final upper palaeolithic period (40,000 - 8,300 BC) although based on the tip of the blade alone this cannot be confirmed. The artefact measures 33.84mm long by 17.62mm wide, is 3.55mm thick and weighs 2.16g.
