A rounded flint core of unknown dating from Paeleolithic to Neolithic. The flint is of a dark grey with light grey inclusions. One face has an oxidised patination. The core appears to have been struck in several areas. This may have been caused through human activity or through natural causes. The finders have reported finding flint flakes and a possible flint arrowhead in the area which may suggest this was formed by human activity. The object was found during a fieldwalking exercise and so was discovered on the surface. It woud be unusual for such a large piece of core to …

Undated flint discoidal core. Could be Middle Palaeolithic or Neolithic. Discoidal core that has been retouched on the distal end (long, sub-parallel, abrupt) to produce a heavy duty scraper. Made on flint, light greyish-cream opaque patina with iron staining. Discoidal technology although the core looks to have been taking on the form of a Levallois core, with centripetal flaking and a proximal and distal end taking shape.

Possible core, Hard hammer struck flakes removed from a natural thermal (frost) fractured piece of a larger nodule of flint. Most of the flakes have been removed from edges of the dorsal face, this retains a small patch of thin and weathered cortex where the flakes didn't meet in the middle, the ventral face has one invasive hard hammer struck flake scar that terminates in a deep hinge, the other flake scar opposing this is of natural origin. The flint was of mottled grey, now stained patchy orange in bands from exposure to iron oxides. If humanly modified, this piece is undiagnostic …

The striking platform of this flake had substantial flaking preparation before its removal. The core is a mid-caramel brown colour. Measurements: 65.9mm long, 44.36mm wide, 28.85mm thick and 86.23g in weight. Discussio…
