A lower-Palaeolithic massive D-shaped scraper, c. 800, 000BC - 150, 000BC .
Description: The scraper is roughly D-shaped. The bulb of percussion on the ventral face has been removed by later flaking. The flaking, which has generally taken off very large flakes, covers much of the surface and has left significant conchoidal scaring (rippling) likely due to hard hammer manufacture. The striking platform at the proximal end is also very large. There is some limited retouch along the dorsal edge, which is short, scaled and semi-abrupt. There is some flaking and retouch which may have o…

An irregular flint scraper of uncertain date, possibly late Middle Palaeolithic (c.60,000-40,000 BC).
Description: The scraper is formed from a single flaked piece of lint and irregularly shaped. It is quite thick and has cortex is present on the right edge of the scraper. There is flaking across both sides and there is no clear ventral or dorsal face. The bulb of percussion and conchoidal scarring (rippling) is quite obscured and variable. There is very short retouch along the top right distal edge retouch is short, scaled semi-abrupt to abrupt retouch from one angle and invasive …

A large probable scraper of lower to middle Palaeolithic date, probably lat middle Palaeolithic c.60,000BC-40,000BC, which has been subsequently reworked and modified at a latter date.
Description: The tool has a wide curved scraper or crude chopper edge formed from short to invasive stepped semi-abrupt retouch mostly from the dorsal face (upper/front). In plan the side run diagonally inwards to a shorter straight edge giving it an overall shape of a modern axehead in plan. The upper diagonal sides has been reworked form both faces to create a point with invasive scaled semi-abrupt…

A large possible lower-middle Palaeolithic flint scraper.
Description: The object is formed from an irregular flint flake triangular in cross-section. The dorsal face is quite high which helps form this cross section. The bulb of percussion on the reverse is fairly shallow although the discoidal rippling is very pronounced. There is a removal flake across where the bulb of percussion which suggest a level of shaping. The wide outside edge of the tool appears to be the working edge with short scaled abrupt retouch along a small section abutting the striking platform end. The rest …

A flint double ended scraper probably of late Mesolithic to Neolithic date, c.8000BC - 3300BC, an early date as early as the upper later Palaeothic cannot be discounted.
Description: The scraper has two rounded ends and two flat perpendicular edges, leaving it irregular in shape. The dorsal face has uneven flaking. The scraping edges are formed from short scaled semi-abrupt retouch and are along each rounded endge and one of the flat eedge opposite the bulb of percussion. The bulb of percussion is very subtle but the bulbar scar is very clear. The flint is a mottled mid-grey with s…

An irregular scraper of uncertain date, possibly Neolithic to Bronze Age
Description: The scraper is irregularly shape, but trapezoidal in cross-section. The two edges aligned perpedicular to the striking platform edges. The scraping edges are irregular and formed by short scaled semi-abrupt retouch, the flint itslef is light grey with some offwhite mottling and orangey brown iron stianing.
Measurements: 40.75mm long, 36.48mm wide, 13.32mm thick and 19.92g in weight.

A Middle Palaeolithic probable Levalloisian scraper c. 250,000BC - 60, 000BC.
Description:A roughly hemispherical flake with substantial flaking across the ventral face including and area of hinge fractures. The flaking appears intentionally to have shaped the flint that while still on the core, typical of levallois flint technology. There is a scraping edge from the top middle edge of the ventral face running down to the right side of the edge. The retouch is very varied but mostly long scaled stepped semi-abrupt retouch, the retouch comes in from both sides and gets finer on the …

A possible Mousterian point of Middle Palaeolithic date.
Description: The point is roughly triangular in plan and cross-section, with an apparently facetted butt end. The point is formed by long flaked removals with extensive edged retouch along each edge. The retouch is short scaled, semi-abrupt, this is more intense along the right edge. The conchoidal rippling is very extensive. The flint is a dark brown colour with some light brown inclusions.
Measurements: 59.94mm long, 35.43mm wide, 10.65mm thick and 24.5g in weight.

A possible Mousterian point of Middle Palaeolithic date.
Description: The point is roughly triangular in plan and cross-section, with an apparently facetted but end although this is heavily worn. The point is formed by long flaked removals with retouch heavily obscured by patination and recortication but appears to be long scaled low angle retouch. The conchoidal rippling on the flaking is substantial on the dorsal face while the bulb and conchoidal rippling on the ventral side is very subtle, indicating mixed technique used in its production. The flint is heavily patinated white w…

A Late Glacial flint shouldered point, c.10000BC, Later Upper Palaeolithic
The point is highly abraded and missing its point due to a diagnonal break from the top right to middle left. The shoulder however is viisble on the left side imediately before the break. The dorsal face has long shallow covering flaking but short scaled abrupt retouch on the edge, where visible. The ventral face has a very subtle bulb of percussion, as well as nearly invisble conchoidal scaring. The surface of the point is mottled blue-white save for a small patch of beige cortex at the bottom corner and th…
