A flint core possibly produced with the Levallois technique and dating from the Early Middle Palaeolithic to Late Middle Palaeolithic c.13,000 - 2200 BC. Description: The object is roughly rectangular with a rounded end. The flat end has a single subtantial striking platform and appears ot have substnatial shaping around its edges. The heavy wear and paitnation obscures much for the flaking making its itended use uncertain. Measurements: 85.51mm long, 56.76mm wide, 29.82mm thick and 145.20g in weight.

An uncertain lithic tool possibly produced with the Levallois technique and dating from the Early Middle Palaeolithic to Late Middle Palaeolithic c. 250,000 BC to 40,000 BC. Description: The tool is roughly ovoid with a blunt butt end, it is roughly triangular in cross-section. The retouch on the dorsal face is covering scaled and stepped semi-abrupt. The ventral face has invasive scaled and stepped semi-abrupt retouch. All the retouch extends along all the edges of the tool save the butt end which is dominated by a distinctive hinge fracture which align with the long flat area of …

A fragment of uncertain bifacially worked lithic implement of possibly of Lower Paleothic date c.500,000-250,000. Description: The fragment is irregularly shaped, with one rounded end (the butt end?), roughly straight sides and a large jagged break at the opposite butt end. There is invasive, scaled low angle retouch across much of it was some short scaled abrupt retouch around the butt end possibly blunting the edge. The large break across the tools width is relatively old as it has begun to recorticate and patinate again. Where visible the fressh flint is pale grey-brown, the pat…

An uncertain flaked lithic implement probably dating to the early-Middle - early Upper Palaeolithic. Description: The object is formed from a secondary flake and is pointed with a wide rounded butt end. The dorsal face is slightly dished from a previous flake removal. There is invasive flaking along the edges of the dorsal edges. The point is formed from invasive retouch from both the dorsal and ventral faces. This work around the point obliterates evidence of the bulb of percussion, the conchoidal rippling on the ventral side is relatively subtle although still visible. The flint …

A lithic tool uncertain date, possibly heat affected and also utilised as a hammer stone. Likely upper Paleolithic (c.40000-11000) or Neolithic-Early Bronze age date (c. 4000 BC - 1000 BC). Description: The tool is roughly ovoid with a heavy cortex area in the centre of one side. The base has had flaking away from the centre leaving an apex point at the centre and the entire flint triangle in cross-section. The bifacial working can be described as invasive to covering, scaled and semi-abrupt. Parts of the flint have been heat affected and then battered likely indicating the object'…

Description: The implement is formed from a triangular tetiary flake With the right edge being formed by invasive scaled semi-abrupt retouch. The left edge has short scaled abrupt retouch. The striking platform at the base of the implement has been battered and finished. The patination is heavy and leaves it a light brown colour. Measurements: 47.41mm long, 43.61mm wide, 12.09mm thick and 23g in weight. Discussion: The degree of wear and patinati…

A large irregular bifacially worked lithic tool possiblyof middle Palaeolithic date, c.250000 - 40000 BC. Description: The object is discoidal but very thick and very uneven. There is no primary striking platform but a number of strikes from the edge and from the centre of the object. It has no clear edges but would have produced large curved flakes. There is a large central patch of cortex on one side and has frequent inclusions and similar which would have made working with the object difficult. The flaking retouch on this tool can be described as invasive scaled semi-abrupt It …

A complete flint implement of uncertain use and date, Middle Palaeolithic to early Bronze Age, 60,000- 1000 BC. Description: The implement is triangular in plan and very much resembles a form of projectile point but doesn't fit well documented types and thus its use remains uncertain. It has long scaled low angle retouch along all edges, which comes in from both edges but most predominately from the dorsal face. The bulb of percussion is very subtle, the bulbar scar appears to have been removed on the ventral face. The flint is mottled med blue-grey with some white specks. Measu…

A lithic implement, likely of the Lower Palaeolithic Acheulian flint industry, dating from the Lower Palaeolithic to Early Middle Palaeolithic c.450,000-180,000 BC. Description: The implement is sub-triangular shape with one rounded edge. The entire surface has large covering flaking with some medium parallel retouch to create the scraper edge. The other end is pointed and, while the object is bifacially flaked it is too small to be classified as a handaxe. The flint is a medium orangey brown with some medium brown iron staining. There appears to be some desert gloss on the scraper…

A worked lithic implement. The tool is sub-rectangular in plan with a point and notch at the distal edge. There is parallel flaking on the dorsal face. There are ripple marks on the ventral face where the piece came away from the core. On this side there are a few small flaking scars at the edges from retouch. The right edge towards the distal end is also notched. There is short, scaled, semi-abrupt retouch on the distal edge to produce a point. There is further similar retouch along both the right and left edges. The proximal end is flat and rough with no clear bulb of purcussion vis…
