Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A single flint probable waste flake (debitage) of uncertain prehistoric date. Description: The flake is roughly teardrop shaped with a wide base and striking platform. Clear conchoidal rippling and bulb of percussion, partly obscured by patination. Little evidence of secondary working or retouching. The heavy patination leaves the flake a white colour, suggesting the flint has been in the soil for a long time. Measurements: 43.01mm long, 28.77mm wide, 7.28mm thick and 8g in weight.

A single flint probable waste flake (debitage) of uncertain possible prehistoric date. Description: The flake is roughly teardrop shaped with a wide base but narrow striking platform.Conchoidal rippling is obscured by patination and bulb of percussion is shallow. The heavy patination leaves the flake a white colour.. Measurements: 46.96mm long, 28.25mm wide, 7.46mm thick and 8.99g in weight.

A heavily patinated and battered lithic waste 'chunk' (debitage) of uncertain prehistoric date. Description: The flake is large and uneven in plan, triangular in cross section. Every edge is heavily battered. The conchoidal rippling and bulb of percussion appear to be quite prominent despite much of it being obscured by very dense blue white patination. The flint here visible through the patination is mid grey in colour. There is substantial iron staining across much of its surface. Measurements: 81.34mm long, 41.36mm wide, 23.1mm thick and 83.26g in weight.

A single flint probable waste flake (debitage) of uncertain possible prehistoric date. Description: The flake is irregularly shaped but with two long edges and two short edges. It has extensive conchoidal rippling and pronounced bulb of percussion indicating production via hard hammer technology. This flake is likely from the production of a blade or similar object. Measurements: 24.25mm long, 15.41mm wide, 5.98mm thick and 2.34g in weight.

A piece of lithic 'debitage' or waste flake of uncertain prehistoric date. Description: Irregularly shaped flake of translucent grey flint with some brown cortex remaining, probably a tertiary removal. Irregular bulb of percussion but substantially directional rippling and hinge fracture. Apparent small retouch likely to be accidental damage rather than human action. Measurements: 58.46mm long, 26.44mm wide, 10.50mm thick and 12.77g in weight.

A flint core of uncertain age possibly Paleolithic in date. Description: The core is roughly oval in plan with and a roughly semi-circular cross-section. It has substantial shaping removals off one face and two large removals on the other. The largest of these, which was produced with a pressure hinge fracture removal may have produced a rounded scraping flake. The striking platform of this flake had substantial flaking preparation before its removal. The core is a mid-caramel brown colour. Measurements: 65.9mm long, 44.36mm wide, 28.85mm thick and 86.23g in weight. Discussio…

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint hammerstone of uncertain prehistoric date. Description: Is roughly semi-circular in cross-section. The hammerstone has large amounts of crushing at the rounded end and accidental removals along two faces indicating its use a a hammerstone. The flatter sides may have been prepared for its uses as a hammerstone as the intentional flakes helping flatten these edges. The edges of the flat end have also had intentional crushing to blunt the edges to make it safer to use, this can be described as invasive scaled abrupt retouch. The other sides are rounded and covered in cortex. h…

An unfinished or not a well utilised flint core of uncertain date. Description: The flint is effecitvely one half of a pearshaped flint nodule. It has a patch of extensive retouch at one end which split the nodule due to a large seam of probable low quality quartz through its centre. The flint is a dark to light brown with the cortex being mottled white and brown white crystal sem is an off white colour. Measurements: 99mm long, 57.87mm wide, 19.29mm thick and 310g in weight.

A complete flint implement of uncertain use and date, Middle Palaeolithic to early Bronze Age, 60,000- 1000 BC. Description: The implement is triangular in plan and very much resembles a form of projectile point but doesn't fit well documented types and thus its use remains uncertain. It has long scaled low angle retouch along all edges, which comes in from both edges but most predominately from the dorsal face. The bulb of percussion is very subtle, the bulbar scar appears to have been removed on the ventral face. The flint is mottled med blue-grey with some white specks. Measu…

Flitn debitag of uncertain date. The flake is sub-ovate in shape and triangular in shape and cross section. The dorsal edges may have been retouched however wear or damage makes this unclear, there is also cortex down the left dorsal side. The vetral surface is smooth with a clear cone of percussion coming up from the right distal edge. The colour is dark to light brown and it is not opaque. The object is 37 mm long, 20 mm wide & 8 mm thick. It weighs 5.62 grams
