A heavily patinated and battered lithic waste 'chunk' (debitage) of uncertain prehistoric date. Description: The flake is large and uneven in plan, triangular in cross section. Every edge is heavily battered. The conchoidal rippling and bulb of percussion appear to be quite prominent despite much of it being obscured by very dense blue white patination. The flint here visible through the patination is mid grey in colour. There is substantial iron staining across much of its surface. Measurements: 81.34mm long, 41.36mm wide, 23.1mm thick and 83.26g in weight.

Description: The tool is roughly ovoid with a blunt butt end, it is roughly triangular in cross-section. The retouch on the dorsal face is covering scaled and stepped semi-abrupt. The ventral face has invasive scaled and stepped semi-abrupt retouch. A bifacially flaked flint handaxe of sub-cordate form dating to the Lower Palaeolithic c.500,000-250,000 BC. Description: The handaxe has a rounded butt, wider middle and a rounded pointed cutting end. It has been bifacially worked, with flaking covering both sides, this has been uneven however leaving one side with a deep uneven hinge fracture. In cross-section the handaxe is a pointed oval. The edges are defined by invasive, scaled, angled retouch. The blade edge narrows but not quite to a point but quite thick so is likely sub-cordate. The flint is unpatinated and a dark grey-br…

An incomplete probable ovate flint handaxe of Lower Palaeolithic date (500,000 - 180,000 BC), Description: The handaxe is incomplete and has a heavily tumbled surface. It was produced via bifacial working with one face being almost entirely destroyed by damage leaving it rough and pitted. The point is rounded and one edge of the remaining face is incomplete also. The flint is the characteristic light brown-orangey 'toffee' colour with some brown to light brown iron staining typical of Palaeolithic flint finds Measurements:79.65mm long, 57.03mm wide, 20.21mm thick and 84.75g in weight.

A possible Mousterian point of Middle Palaeolithic date. Description: The point is roughly triangular in plan and cross-section, with an apparently facetted but end although this is heavily worn. The point is formed by long flaked removals with retouch heavily obscured by patination and recortication but appears to be long scaled low angle retouch. The conchoidal rippling on the flaking is substantial on the dorsal face while the bulb and conchoidal rippling on the ventral side is very subtle, indicating mixed technique used in its production. The flint is heavily patinated white w…
