A copper alloy axe head of the palstave type of the Middle Bronze Age. The body of the axe is largely complete although pitted with corrosion, but the cutting edge, most of the flanges and the haft end are missing.

patchy bronze disease on both faces, very tip extinct and red-brown corrosion product covering break. Basal area cracked from base up towards rivet apertures, refer to scanned image. One face has been cleaned/abraded roughly, recent scoring, light brassy coloured metal with re oxidisation over this. Edges denuded on both sides. Welll cast, flaws smoothed , near flat surface below rivet holes.
