An incomplete cast copper-alloy Middle to Late Bronze Age palstave axe dating to c. 1600-1200 BC, possible shield-pattern palstave axe head, Arreton/Acton Park Metalwork Assemblage.
The axe is narrow and unlooped, with a rounded stop-ridge on both sides at right angles to the septum. Prominent side flanges, the butt narrows to a damaged end. A complete cast copper-alloy awl probably of Later Bronze Age date (c.1500-800 BC). The awl is divided into two halves separated by the widest mid-point that is 5.2mm wide and 4.6mm thick. One half is square in cross section and narrows to a point. The other half is rectangular in cross-section and thins to a flat rounded chisel edge that is 3.4mm wide and 1.2mm thick.
The awl has dark brown patination with a few areas of lamination which are light brown.
The awl is 53.3mm long, 4.6mm wide, 4.3mm thick and weighs 4.12 grams.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy socketed axe dating to the late Bronze Age (1100 BC - 800 BC), comprising a corner of the socket. The profile of the socket appears subrectangular and is surrounded by a thick rim with a moulded collar 9.6mm thick which has a triangular cross section. A side loop, 19mm in length, is present on the remaining portion of the side of the axehead and there is a visible casting seam running along it, from the rim to the break.

A heavily worn and incomplete Bronze Age palstave axe head.
Extensive surface loss has occurred along the edges and surfaces of the find, giving the axe and thin irregular form.
The butt end is sub-square, and is slightly more truncated to one side. From the butt, the sides flare slightly. The side flanges are missing; however, the stop ridge is still prominently visible, especially on one side. A copper alloy long flanged palstave axe dating to the late Early to early Middle Bronze Age.
The axe has a wide curved blade that is bevel on both sides of the forward edge. The sides of the blade concave and narrow to the main rectangular body. This is flanked by large flanges on both sides that project perpendicular to the frame of the axe, each flange is convex in profile running from the butt of the implement for two thirds of its length.
This is likely to be of Arreton or early Acton Park metalworking phase, perhaps dating to 1800 - 1600 BC.

It is triangular in form with prominent mid rib and flattened blades that give the surviving fragment a lozenge shaped cross-section. The tip is rounded and perhaps incomplete due to old breaks, while in the breaks towards the butt end can be seen the remains of a central circular socket. The fragment comprises the socket section of the axehead of which half survives. The lower half and opposing side are lost to semi-worn irregular breaks. There is no evidence of a collar around the rectangular socket rim. The thickness of the body tapers from 6.2mm at the rim to 3.6mm at the lower break. The wider face of the fragment is decorated with three flat vertical ribs (2.7mm-4.3mm wide). The metal has a dark green/brown patina.

The blade is pointed, tapering with concave sides to a point. It has clearly been subject to extensive and repeated re-sharpening over a prolonged period and now retains little of its original form. The rear edge is rounded and incomplete with traces of a pair of flanking and now broken rivet holes. The blade has a flat and lenticular cross section with no clear midrib.

A fragment from a Middle to Late Bronze Age spearhead. Only part of the blade and midrib survive.
The fragment is broadly rectangular in plan having three regular linear breaks running at right angles to the surviving blade edge. This edge is rounded and shows no signs of damage. After c.11.3mm the plate splits to from what would have been a hollow probably circular/oval midrib. One of these plates has been slightly squashed against the other. There is possibly a small incised channel running along the edge of the midrib seen on both surfaces.

A later prehistoric end scraper struck from a secondary nodule fragment of dark grey flint with a light brown cortex retained over 60% of the dorsal surface. The flake has been removed by hard hammering and there is no evidence of a prepared striking platform. The distal end has long semi abrupt parallel retouch defining a working edge which has been largely obscured by battering damage, some of this is clearly post depositional as it has broken the patina.

The axehead is extremely worn and undecorated. No signs of ridges or flanges are present indicating that this is an early flat axe.

A secondary flake of dark grey brown flint which appears to have been removed by hard hammer from a nodule and re-used as a tool, probably in the later prehistoric period. The distal end is triangular with steep sides defined by long and short semi-abrupt retouch into a working point. The right side long edge has scaled low angle retouch on the ventral face to refine a cutting edge suggesting the tool may have had a variety of functions.

A barbed and tanged flint arrowhead, 31mm in length, dating to the early Bronze Age / Beaker period (c. 2500 BC-c. 1500 BC) and made from a pale brown flint. The arrowhead is triangular with lenticular cross-section and has scaled and low angle retouch on both sides. The barbs are longer than the tang and convex on the outer edges with obliquely angled tips (Type C) and the tang is narrow and rounded (Type G).
This example fits into the sub-classification of non-Fancy B&T arrowheads best described as Green Low types (Butler 2005: 162-165, after Green (1980).

A single piece of copper alloy casting waste of uncertain period. The object is irregular in shape being broadly rectangular in plan and domed in cross section but with one flatter region and one more bulbous area. The surface are smooth suggesting an as cast state. The irregularity of the form of this object would suggest this is not an intentional shape such that it is more likely to be the remains of the casting process.
The fragment is a brown green colour
It is 369.2mm long, 32mm wide, 9.1mm thick and weighs 23.51 grams.

An incomplete copper-alloy awl probably of late Bronze age date, c. 1150-800BC.
The object comprises a copper alloy bar. One end is of square cross-section and tapers to a point. The bar terminates at the opposing end in a worn break with a circular cross section. The surface has a deep-green patina with no evident of decoration.

An incomplete copper alloy Thorndon type socketed knife dating to the late Bronze Age (c. 950-750 BC).
The object consists of the socket and the upper portion of the blade. The socket is oval in shape with incomplete walls. The base of the socket presents a traverse step before extending into the blade. The blade is rectangular in form with a shallow lozenge-shaped section. It terminates with a worn break. The object has a dark brown patina with patches of bright green.

Complete side looped Palstave axe, of Rowlands, M. J. (1976) class 2, group 1 trident, mid-green patination with areas of surface pitting, smooth surface in between.
