A fragment from a copper-alloy socketed axehead of Bronze Age date. Only the socket end of the axe remains, and it has post-depositional damage. It is broadly trapezoidal in shape, and is hollow. At the socket end the rim in thickened. Along one outer edge is the remains of a longitudinal casting seam.There is a similar example recorded on the PAS database (SF-CA59D7). This socket measures 43.02mm in length, 47.15mm in width, 4.77m in thickness, 47.86g in weight.

Copper alloy socketed axe-head. Cast copper alloy axe-head with a crescentic cutting edge, a plain body with slightly concave upper and lower sides and a sub-rectangular socket measuring 32.7mm in height and 28.4mm in width [externally]. A single loop of length 23.5mm is set on one side on the mould line at a distance of 9.5mm from the socket. Six triangular-section fragments of pale buff and desiccated wood were presented along with the object together with smaller splinters and dust, with slight evidence of green staining, and are regarded by the finder as relict fragments of a woode…

A fragment of a cast copper alloy socketed axe dating to the late Bronze Age  (1100 BC - 800 BC), comprising a corner of the socket. The profile of the socket appears subrectangular and is surrounded by a thick rim with a moulded collar 9.6mm thick which has a triangular cross section. A side loop, 19mm in length, is present on the remaining portion of the side of the axehead and there is a visible casting seam running along it, from the rim to the break.

A copper alloy late Bronze Age socketed axehead dating from about 1140 BC - 1000 BC. It is a type Fulford socketed axe. The axe is sub-rectangular in plan and wedge-shaped in cross-section. It has a square socket with a moulded triple collar, wider at the top. The sides expand slightly, and then curve at the tips. The faces are smooth and there is no decoration visible on the surfaces. The socket is 59.2mm deep, 34.1 mm wide, and 8.8 mm thick. A fragment of a cast late Bronze Age copper alloy socketed axehead, dating to c.900-700 BC. The fragment consists of the axehead's cutting edge only, the rest of the object is missing. The cutting edge is worn and an abraded break reveals a shallow portion of the socket that is c.6mm deep. The axehead fragment is sub-trapezoidal in plan. The broken edge of the axehead runs transversely across its body giving an irregular, but mostly flat, edge. A fragment of a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead dating to the period. c 1150-800 cal BC. The fragment comprises the socket section of the axehead of which half survives. The lower half and opposing side are lost to semi-worn irregular breaks. There is no evidence of a collar around the rectangular socket rim. The thickness of the body tapers from 6.2mm at the rim to 3.6mm at the lower break. The wider face of the fragment is decorated with three flat vertical ribs (2.7mm-4.3mm wide). Cutting edge and part of the body of a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead, of mid-green patination, most of the upper part is broken in antiquity. the break is abraded and a lighter colour to the original surfaces, as is the the remains of the the cutting edge, now truncated by surface loss.
