Object type: GOUGE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A fragment of a Late Bronze Age copper-alloy gouge (1150 - 800 BC). The gouge consists of a semi-circular shaped blade tip. It is possible that this gouge was socketed, however there is no indication of a socket remaining. The blade is C-shaped in cross-section throughout its length and concave, with the hollow of the blade increasing towards the cutting-edge. The sides of the blade are slightly trapezoidal expanding towards the cutting edge which is rounded. The break is irregular and the reverse of the gouge is rounded.
The gouge measures 32.3 mm in length, 15.6&…

A fragment of gold, likely hack gold from a penannular bracelet of Bronze Age date, possibly c.1100-850 BC.
Description: The object is broadly 'axe-shaped' with a sub-circular terminal that tapers to a flat rectangular cross section. This was likely achieved by cutting and hammering. The tapered end has been cut, indicated by a bright rugged cut. The terminal also appears to have been cut from a larger object and then hammered smooth. The gold has a rich, bright yellow colour.

Object type: PALSTAVE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A fragment of a copper-alloy palstave dating from the early to the middle Bronze Age( c.BC 2500 to 950) (possibly group III). The copper alloy fragment is a sub rectangle with one terminal being broken, but not recently. This end reveals that the body is voided, possible from corrosion. The opposite edge is wider and has a blunted edge. The upper and lower surface of the fragment has an incomplete matte mid green patina. Due to the object bing fragmentary, it is difficult to give a precise date.
The fragment measures 33.8mm in length, 29.1mm in width and 7.7mm thickness and weigh…
