An incomplete copper alloy socketed axehead of late Bronze Age date (c 1000 - 800 BC) corresponding to the Ewert Park metalworking phase (Needham’s (1996) Period 7) and of faceted type. The surviving portion of the axehead is 43mm in width and 39mm in length, comprising the front end which has a flared, curved blade edge, with pointed, almost hooked ends. The sides of the blade have four distinct facets, which taper to the blade edge. There is no evidence of any other decoration to either face. A fragment of a Bronze Age copper-alloy socketed axe dating to circa 1600-800 BC. It consists of a fragment of the front face and side, rectangular in plan and L-shaped in section. The front face of both the the side and front face contain a longtidunal ridge. The inner faces are plain. The fragmentary remains preclude typological designation so it is broadly dated from the Middle to Late Bronze Age. Length: 26.6mm; Width: 25.5mm; Thickness: 3.1mm; Weight: 8.47g.

A probable Bronze Age copper-alloy fragment of a socketed axehead dating to circa 1600-800 BC. The small surviving piece is part of side wall section of the socket mouth.. The outer face has a similar ridge opposite the internal one plus a lateral one which is nearer one end. The inner face has a longitudinal casting ridge. The fragmentary remains preclude typological designation so it is broadly dated from the Middle to Late Bronze Age. Length: 27.5mm; Width: 18.1mm; Thickness: 9.1mm; Weight: 10.06g.
