An incomplete cast copper-alloy Middle to Late Bronze Age palstave axe dating to c. 1600-1200 BC, possible shield-pattern palstave axe head, Arreton/Acton Park Metalwork Assemblage. The axe is narrow and unlooped, with a rounded stop-ridge on both sides at right angles to the septum. Prominent side flanges, the butt narrows to a damaged end. Complete unlooped copper-alloy Middle to Late Bronze Age palstave axehead. The H-shaped hafting channels at the butt are in good condition, with most of the original edges surviving on all four flanges. The butt narrows before a worn transverse break. The (abraded) stop ridge is slightly higher than the flanges. The septum is 57.1mm long. An incomplete copper alloy unlooped palstave of Middle Bronze Age date (c. 1500-1300BC).Probably an early palstave of Group I - shield pattern type. The blade of the palstave is triangular shaped in plan with expanding sides. The cutting edge measures 37.4 mm in width and is 4.4 mm thick. The cutting edge is blunt. The septum (the area between the flange facets and the stop ridge) gradually tapers towards the butt and is a broad U shape, measuring 57.4 mm in length. A copper alloy (bronze) palstave of Middle Bronze Age date, probably of the Acton Park II/Taunton metalwork style (c. 1400-1250 BC). The cutting edge has a crescentic form with the tips recurving back onto the expanding form of the blade, though one side is more pronounced than the other. The maximum heights of the flanges on both sides are taller than the stop ridge height, with the flanges forming a leaf-shaped pattern when viewed from above. Complete side looped Palstave axe, of Rowlands, M. J. (1976) class 2, group 1 trident, mid-green patination with areas of surface pitting, smooth surface in between. A copper alloy middle to late Bronze Age tranistional Palstave axehead dating from about 1250 - 950 cal BC, Penard or early Wilburton phase. The palstave is a transitional type with a deeply undercut stop. It has a thin butt with flanges that expand from the end of the butt to the stop in a triangular shape. The tallest part of the flange is at the stop. The stop ridge is curved and forms a small socket (is deeply undercut). A fragment of a middle bronze age copper alloy palstave axehead dating between 1600-1150 BC. The fragment consists of the lower half of the palstave, the butt end is missing. The blade corners and cutting edge are missing, the cutting edge being lost to an oblique, worn break. Toward the butt, the blade end terminates in a worn, flat break with a sub-rectangular cross-section. The entire object is heavily worn and pitted, with a mottled green patina.
