A copper alloy casting sprue/jet of uncertain date. The jet is broadly pointed oval in plan, broadly triangular in cross section and tapers towards the break forming a broadly D shaped cone. The shape reflects the funnel shaped casting gate and the projecting feeder into the casting mould. The base of the cone would have in fact been the upper side into which the metal was poured and the irregular surface may the metal cooling as it was poured into the mould. The metal has a dark green patina. The casting jet is 73.65mm in length, 74.75mm wide at the top tapering to 36.7mm wide at …

Corroded cast copper alloy casting sprue/jet of Bronze Age or later date. A truncated cone shaped body with two curved prongs projecting from the narrow end. The shape reflects the funnel shaped casting gate and two projecting feeders into the casting mould. The base of the cone would have in fact been the upper side into which the metal was poured and the odd protrusion on one side may reflect the metal cooling as it was poured into the mould. The metal is dark green with patches of mid yellow green and pale green corrosion. Comparable examples on the PAS database include IO…

Two pieces of undatable copper alloy probable metalworking debris, although the larger of the two pieces has possible signs of burning as well as form, and conceivably may have once been an object. However it may also be waste from the metal working process, solidifying against something with shape. The larger measures 51.07x19.75x8.03mm and weighs16.49g. On one face it appears to have three linear levels, possibly 'folds'. To the reverse it is mostly flat with a diagonal ridge at one end and another fold at the other. The smaller, possibly also with signs of burning but rather more…

A probable Late Bronze Age (1100 BC - 800 BC) fragment of casting sprue, weighing 6.3g. It is oval in cross-section and measures 15.34x10.95 at the wider end, which has a rough surface. The sprue narrows over 14.97mm to an old break 8.64x3.82mm. The sprue forms in the channels of the mould through which molten metal is poured in the process of casting, and which subsequently hardens and is removed. Although the colour of the metal suggests a Bronze Age date, it could conceivably date later.

This is snapped at its base and a jagged edge is apparent below. To one side of the main trunk is a flat-sectioned projection of metal, c.15x14x1.51mm, with a torn and jagged edge. The curved side of the object is smooth whereas the other side is rough. Measures 26.91x35.46mm.
