Object type: METAL WORKING DEBRIS
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Hampshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A worn copper-alloy object of uncertain date and function, perhaps a casting jet or worn zoomorphic figurine. It is triangular in cross-section with five worn projections to the underside, one end narrowing to a worn point. The other end terminates in a worn break. The projections have a rectangular cross-section.
The metal is green in colour and rough to touch, with areas of blackening. The surface of the metal is pitted.
The object measures 44.8mm in length, 7.0mm in width, 18.6mm in max.depth and weighs 13.84g.

A probable piece of copper alloy metal working debris, perhaps a casting runner, of uncertain date. The object is conical in shape with an oval base (19.8x17.9mm) narrowing into a projection that is oval in cross-section and terminating in a worn break (which measures 10.2x8.8mm). An undatable (Bronze Age to post-medieval, c. 2000 BC - AD 1800) probable solidified copper alloy droplet, presumably a by-product of metal-working. It is 'bun-shaped', with a roughly circular outline and shallowly-domed in profile. There is a slight sinking at the centre. The underside is pitted but smooth, with two circular holes 0.9mm and 2mm in diameter. The larger is 1mm deep while the smaller is shallower (it is not possible to measure the depth). They do not pierce through to the other face of the object, which is even and smooth. The metal is dark blue-green in colour.

Record ID: HAMP-8548DB
Object type: METAL WORKING DEBRIS
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Hampshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A copper alloy casting jet of probable Bronze Age date (2150 BC - 800 BC). The object has a flat sub-oval head, the surface of which is irregular and pitted. This uneven surface was probably created when the molten metal was solidifying. Below extend a pair of sprue elements (feeders) at c.135 degree angles. Each feeder is c.13mm long and D-shaped in cross-section, being flat to the inside surface. Both ends (measuring 12.6x9.6mm and 14.1x10.9mm) have rectangular depressions at the centre.
The object has a mid- green patina and a lightly pitted surface.
The jet stands 29.8mm in heig…
