Description: The object is broadly 'axe-shaped' with a sub-circular terminal that tapers to a flat rectangular cross section. This was likely achieved by cutting and hammering. The tapered end has been cut, indicated by a bright rugged cut. A fragment of a flange- or bar-twisted gold torc, 39.7mm in length, dating to the Middle Bronze Age (probably Penard phase) c. 1300 - 1100 BC. The torc has a x-shaped cross-section with four flanges twisted into a spiral with a circular cross-section of 6.6mm diameter. Both ends of the fragment are abraded and one appears to have been crushed. It is unclear whether the fragment has broken off from or been cut from the original torc.

An amorphous glob of gold, that survives as evidence of gold working of an uncertain date. Description: The gold is very pure, with a slightly pitted surface of a solidified fluid. One end of the glob is larger and heavier with a long neck to a small round terminal. Discussion: The high purity, pitted surface and solidified fluid form confirms that this gold has been (re)worked rather than being an example of a naturally occurring nugget of gold ore. As the gold is undiagnostic and cannot be proven to be more than 300 years old, the object does not qualify as Treasure.
