A cast copper-alloy 'melon' bead of uncertain date, but probably Roman. Sub-circular in plan with a circular 8.4mm smooth-sided aperture in the centre. The sides have a spiralling gadrooned decoration of seven relief moulded curved ridges with deep grooves between. The top and bottom are slightly dished/concave, probably from wear. The surface displays a pale green patchy patina. Diameter 16.3mm, height 9.3mm, wall thickness 3.5mm > 4mm, weight 6.8g. A complete cast copper-alloy bead of Bronze Age to early medieval date (c.2400BC-AD1500). Description: The bead is annular in plan oval in cross-section. It has a smooth and glossy dark brown patina with some pitting.  Measurements: diameter 18.77mm, thickness 7.43mm, width 6.02, weight 10.84g Discussion: Beads of this form are found in the archaeological record associated with sites dating from the Bronze Age to the early medieval period.

Description: The bead is in the form of annular ring with a wide central hole. The circumference of one side of the ring has been heavily abraded outwards. The central perforation is cylindrical. The surface is fairly smooth but there is some slight pitting and wear. The metal has a dark greenish brown patina and is worn. A cast copper-alloy object, probably a bead, dating from the Bronze Age or Early Iron Age c. 2150-800 BC. The artefact is lozenge-shaped in plan and broadly square in cross section. It has an irregularly shaped perforation in the center. Each of the long edges of the lozenge is concave which means that the corners appear larger and bulbous. A copper alloy Bead of probable prehistoric to Roman date. The bead is discoidal, though crudely made.There is an irregularly place circular hole through the bead, slightly off center. The exterior of the bead has been decorated with spiralling grooves and ridges. A similar example can be seen on the database: SUSS-278700. There is no decoration. There is some corrosion, and the metal is pitted. The flat top and bottom are smooth and worn. A cast copper-alloy bead of uncertain date. It is biconical in form with a circular perforation in the centre, 6.4mm in diameter. The bead appears to have been cast in a two piece mould as there is a casting ridge running round that outer edge. It measures 15.36mm in external diameter, 5.9mm in thickness, and weighs 5.15g. It is difficult to date copper alloy beads of this type out of context as they were in use from the Bronze Age though to the Early-Medieval period.
