The object is made of sheet copper alloy roughly triangular with two very thing corners and one that appears to have been cut again to form a fourth edge. The narrowest corners have been twisted to form loops, though this appears to be unintentional. It is difficult to date this object, but based on the pattina it is likely to be significantly old, no later than Medieval in date. An amorphous glob of gold, that survives as evidence of gold working of an uncertain date. Description: The gold is very pure, with a slightly pitted surface of a solidified fluid. One end of the glob is larger and heavier with a long neck to a small round terminal. Discussion: The high purity, pitted surface and solidified fluid form confirms that this gold has been (re)worked rather than being an example of a naturally occurring nugget of gold ore. As the gold is undiagnostic and cannot be proven to be more than 300 years old, the object does not qualify as Treasure.
