A complete cast copper-alloy miniature axe head of possible Roman date.
It is triangular in section. One end has an expanding circular butt defined by a circumferential groove. The object then tapers to a flaring crescentic blade. On one edge before the butt is an integrally cast circular aperture.
This object measures 19.75mm in length, 7.91mm in diameter at the butt, 22.03mm in width at the blade, 7.76mm in thickness at the butt, 2.19mm in thickness at the blade, 6.75g in weight.
This miniature axe was possibly votive in function and perhaps utilised as a pendant or amulet.…
