A complete copper alloy ring of uncertain date. The object is circular in plan and ovate in cross-section. The surface of the object is worn and uneven and one side of the object is thinner due to wear against another connection. Plain rings of such proportions have often been suggested to be medieval or Post-Medieval harness rings though they are typically un-diagnostic. The metal has a dark brown patina and is worn. The ring is 20.6mm in diameter, 2.6mm thick and weighs 4.1g. Numerous similar objects have been recorded on the PAS database: http://finds.org.uk/database/searc…

Unidentified copper-alloy object, possibly a fitting or mount. Unfortunately it is not possible to assign a date range to this object that is any more precise than Iron Age - modern (c. 2350 BC - 1950 AD). The object is sub-rectangular and domed, with a transverse ridge at the mid-point of the front face and a further transverse ridge across one end of the same face. The back of the object is obscured slightly by organic detriment but it is clear that there is a raised square area in the centre with a circular depression in the middle. The object has a patchy brown and green patina an…
