Record ID: NMS-F66213
Object type: KNIFE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Incomplete knife or projectile point of unpatinated mottled grey flint with small areas of faint spotty iron stains. The distal end is broken by a transverse bending fracture and the bulb has been removed by semi-invasive bifacial pressure flaking and neatly trimmed into a semi-circular base. The date is uncertain although, because the blank is hard hammer rather than soft hammer struck, it is likely to of Neolithic origin rather than earlier. 50 x 28.5 x 7.5 mm.

Object type: AXEHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Neolithic small axehead of mottled grey flint with areas of spotty iron stains to the high points. This piece is rather crude and one side is knapped conventionally, but on the other the knapper had some real problems with steep and awkward platforms while reducing the core to an axehead. It may be that this was discarded as a failure. 125 x 44 x 28 mm.
