Roman lead alloy steelyard weight, 45mm wide 40mm high and weighs 326 grams (11.46 oz).
The weight is sub ovoid in form and circular in cross section with the remains of an iron loop in its upper centre. It has a smaller triangular cross sectioned upper half and a well rounded larger lower half, starting with a rounded ridge.

An incomplete lead weight with an iron attachment loop, probably dating to the Roman period.
The solid-cast body is circular in section and is ovoid in plan. At the apex is the stub of a small iron loop, used to suspend the weight on a scale. The weight originally appears to have been coated in copper alloy, which is now decaying revelaling the lead below. It is best preserved at the apex of the object.The body of the weight has been damaged over time, resulting in a white-ish patina forming on areas of damage.

It has no obvious signs of suspension, as one end has broken away, possibly containing the suspension loop. The weight is showing signs of cracking and delamination, particularly around the area that has sheared away. It has a mixed grey to creamy brown patina

Description: This steelyard weight is bi-conical in form and has the remaining encrusted copper alloy suspension loop at the top. The weight is grey and pitted overall.

A steelyard weight, possibly Roman, of lead with an iron core to probably aid in suspension. The object is bell-shaped, flared at the base but solid, the iron central section projecting at the top. This projection is now broken, but originally probably terminated in a loop. The object is covered evenly in white and beige lead corrosion products, except for a large gash that may have been cause by ploughstrike.

A complete lead weight possibly dating to the Roman period (c. AD 43-410). The weight is ovoid or egg-shaped and has a circular perforation running through it from top to bottom (of 2.22mm diameter), now filled in, which could have housed an iron suspension loop. There are a number of scratches and gouges across the surface owing to wear and it was a light grey patina.
