A pair of oolitic limestone perforated objects probably used as fishing net weights. The perforations are probably too small for them to have functioned as loom weights and their shapes too irregular for them to have been spindle whorls. The underside of the objects have patterns of wear suggesting the string that passed through them was knotted underneath and attatched to a horizontal string for connection to other weights further along the net. A complete stone weight, cream/light brown in colour and most likely to be a spindle whorl. It is circular in shape and measures 39mm in diameter and 17mm in thickness. It has a central circular perforation which is 10mm in diameter. This spindle whorl could date to any time between the Roman and end of the Medieval periods.
