Fragment of a Late Saxon mount, possibly a stirrup-strap mount of Williams' Class B unclassified, rather worn. One outer angle survives of a trapezoidal open-work body with Ringerike-style interlaced knots and tendrils, partly defined by engraved lines. No surviving means of attachment. Extant dimensions 22 x 20.5mm. 2.5mm thick. Cf. a Danish mount in Williams 1997, fig.65, no.12. 11th century.

Early Medieval (11th century) incomplete stirrup-strap mount: The cast copper alloy mount is a sub triangle with a debased animal head at each corner. The lower corners extend below the edge of the mount. The body of the mount does not appear to be decorated. On the reverse, along the lower edge there is a right-angled flange. Above the flange there are two circular perforations one of which has an iron rivet remaining. The surface is has a mottled mid-brown patina but is still coated in a fine layer of soil. Very unusual Late Saxon copper alloy openwork stirrup-strap mount of Williams 1997, Class A, Type 12, but with a single lozengiform perforation with a boss at both flanking angles, a perforated lug at the apex and a separate dome-headed copper alloy rivet forming a boss at the lower angle and taking the place of the more usual iron rivet. Iron corrosion on the reverse surrounding the rivet and on the projecting rectangular basal flange. Height 36mm. Width 27.5mm. Weighs 19.08g. Cf. an example from Ingham, Norfolk (NMS-DEA015). 11th century.

Late Saxon copper alloy stirrup strap mount of Williams' (1997) Class A, Type 13 dating to the period c. AD 950 - 1100. Diamond-shaped with a pierced loop projecting from the top and a projecting lobed boss on either side. In the centre is a diamond-shaped recess. At the bottom is a rearward-projecting flange covered in iron corrosion from two rivets. See: Williams, D, 1997, p. 75, no. 342.

A complete copper alloy early medieval stirrup terminal of zoomorphic form dating from c. AD 1050 - 1100. An incomplete Anglo-Scandanavian copper alloy stirrup terminal mount dating to 11th century AD. The mount is in the form of an animal's foot (trilobed) with a flat base and three claws projecting from around the outer edge. The projections are circular in cross-section. The mount is of Williams' Class A Type 1 type being flat and sub-triangular in plan with a perforated loop at the apex and a right-angled flange at the base. The flange possesses a central circular perforation which is filled with iron corrosion products. The upper surface possesses integrally-cast decoration in the form of two opposing entwined beasts. The strap mount measures 45mm in length, a maximum of 31mm in width and 8mm in thickness.
