An escutcheon plate and decorated lock cover which remain in situ on a rusted iron fragment of a lock, perhaps from a door or large chest. The cover plate is arrow shaped, 51.2mm by 33.6mm in length and width, with a trefoil projection at the top which is pierced to provide a rotating closure and has a moulded quatrefoil around the hole for the spindle. A slightly incomplete iron locking key of Medieval date. This key weighs 78.04g however would of originally of weighed a bit more. The metal has started to rust and it is evident that some bits of iron have flaked off of the artefact on the shank, bow and bit. The key has a total length of 128.9mm, the oval to 'D' shaped bow accounting for 33.7mm of this length.
