A slightly incomplete iron locking key of Medieval date. This key weighs 78.04g however would of originally of weighed a bit more. The metal has started to rust and it is evident that some bits of iron have flaked off of the artefact on the shank, bow and bit. The key has a total length of 128.9mm, the oval to 'D' shaped bow accounting for 33.7mm of this length. The bow has a width of 52.6mm, possibly slightly less than its original dimension, and appears to have originally have had a rectangular cross-section, possibly with rounded-off edges unless this is the result of the object's …
