Complete Post Medieval handmade copper alloy finger ring, c.AD 1400-1500. This ring is made from two copper wires twined around each other, then flattened to form the ring. The simplicity of this design makes it difficult to date, although the rough and uneven form of this ring indicates that it is handmade, which has informed the dating of this item to the late Medieval period.

A handmade silver late Medieval finger ring, c.AD 1400-1500. This ring has a thick hoop that is missing a section, which has been torn off of the object. The hoop thickens into a rectangular bezel, which is slightly angled on both sides to create three surfaces on which decoration has been added. The decoration on the shoulders are champleve fields, made to contain enamel. The face is decorated with worn incised lines, that probably originally represented a saint, as was similar to other iconographic rings of the age. There are no makers marks, hallmarks, or inscriptions on the inner…

Fragment of a Medieval silver-gilt iconagraphic finger ring with two bevels. These bevelled faces are rectangular with pointed ends and incised designs; the bevelled faces are separated by a two undecorated bevels, triangular in shape. Both designs appear to feature the bust of a person with their arms and hands represented. Of these designs, only the lower half of the first bevelled face survives. This face shows a right hand held slightly across the torso of the bust, as well as the robes of the person depicted. The second design only survives on the upper half of the bevelled …

Medieval gold finger ring with pryamidal jewel or glass inset. This ring has a large pryamid-shaped head around the inset glass/jewel, which is bordered on either side of the band by incised slightly-curved arches. The band is a single band with a deep groove that makes it look like two thinner bands of gold running side-by-side. The jewel is small and dark in colour, although its is not easy to identify. It is held in place by the gold setting. A single, small circle of gold solder is located on the inner face of the band, opposite the inset jewel. The thickness of the band…

A possible signet ring of Medieval to post-Medieval date, made of cast copper-alloy. The top of the ring has a flat, ovular surface that may have been decorated at some point but which is now flat. The sides of the ring widen to include this flat section and narrow further along the band; these sides are decorated with small impressed spirals and circles, although there does not seem to be any larger pattern. The section of the band opposite the flat section is missing, possibly broken off prior to deposition. There are no makers marks or hallmarks on this ring.

A Medieval copper-alloy bezel which has detached from finger-ring (c. 1400-c. 1700). The object is flat and circular. The upper face is decorated with a deeply incised but relatively crudely applied design that would have acted as a matrix for impressing upon waxen seals. The design has a border of fifteen evenly spaced small circular pits which enclose a motif resembling a capital letter 'T' within a horseshoe shape; alternatively, it may be the letter M, perhaps for the Virgin Mary (compare BH-57A4E5). There are oblique grooves above the cross-bar which may represent sp…
