A group of 30 copper-alloy pellets and a copper-alloy rod, possibly a forger's group, dating to the Roman period. The rod is cylindrical with one rounded end and one slightly hollwed end. The surfaces are plain, worn and abraded with a light green patination. It measures 32.6mm long, 7.1mm diameter and weighs 7.03 grams. All of the 30 pellets are small discs or irregular pellets that vary in thickness. None of their surfaces are decorated or patterned in any way. They weigh a combined 55.43 grams. Extract from report to HM Coroner by E. Ghey: The find is a flattened gold pellet of unknown date. It is circular in shape with smooth, flat upper and lower surfaces and is therefore of consistent appearance with an Iron Age coin blank. The object appears to have been made by melting and cooling raw metal in a clay mould to create flat surfaces (for pellet moulds see Landon 2017).
