A small discoidal copper alloy coin or trade weight of 2.64g (c. 1/10 oz). One side is stamped with incuse letters D / VI, the other appears possible L but unclear. Circa 18th or 19th century. Simple weights like these were stamped from a blank for use by a local trader, rather than being part of a manufactured set. A similar example on the database is SUR-87EAD7.

A post-Medieval copper-alloy coin weight dating from about AD 1725 - 1775. The discoidal weight has the same design on both faces: the legend 'NINE/SHILL', a scallop shell above and flanked by foliate scrollwork, with a beaded circumferential border. This is part of a so-called 'long set' (see Withers and Withers 1995: 47), issued for the weighing of foreign gold coins. This particular piece was probably for the Portuguese escudo, equivalent to 9 shillin

A Post Medieval cast copper alloy coin weight for an Angel of James I (AD 1603 - 1625). It is square in plan. The obverse depicts a crowned bearded bust right, between the legend I R/ B R  within a beaded circle. On the reverse is a crown over XI(s), within an off centre beaded circle. It weighs 4.54g. The weight of an Angel, James I, 2nd coinage, revalued. gold double crown of James I is 4.6g (Withers, 2011, 18). Dimensions: 15.6mm x 15.00mm; 2.7mm thick; weight 4.54g.

Obverse : crowned bust of Charles left, with inscription CAROLVS REX.  Reverse : crown / XX / S in three lines. Both sides within toothed borders. Diameter 19.3mm, thickness 4.1mm and weight 8.8g.
