A complete copper-alloy Post Medieval square coin weight (c.1600-1700). The object is square in plan and rectangular in section. The obverse is slightly smaller than the reverse. Neither face has any decoration making dating difficult, as coin weights are traditionally decorated. The metal has a dark green patina and is pitted on the sides. Dimensions: Length 19.4mm, Width 17.8mm, Thickness 6.3mm, Weight 14.89g Similar examples are illustrated in Biggs (1992) p.29.

Post-medieval copper-alloy coin weight for two Spanish escudos. It is rectangular, nearly square, and uniface. The stamped design consists of  a cross potent within a quadrilobe, surrounded by a beaded circular border. Cf. Withers and Withers (1995, 44). The two escudo gold coin was issued in the reign of Felipe II (1556-98) (Ibid, 71). Length: 14.3mm. Width: 13.5mm. Thickness: 4.5mm. Weight 5.8mm.

Withers (1995) p.38. One side depicts the figures X V S with a large crown above. The reverse depicts a 'sunburst' spur with lis and lions at the points.
