A flat, discoidal late Post-Medieval copper alloy coin weight dating from 1760 to 1772. The coin has raised moulded decoration on both sides reading S+D / 13+6, indicating that it represented a value of 13 shillings and 6 pence. Both sides have decorative running borders of small chevrons. The object is dark brown in colour. Measurements: diameter 16.36mm, thickness 2.58mm, weight 3.70g. The object is worn but the weight of 25 grains is comparable to quarter noble which would date to the 15th/16th century and the square shape and uniface design suggests it may be continental. A complete cast, copper alloy, biface, coin weight. Description: The flan is thick and missing part of the outside edge. The motif on one side appears to be (1)73 above an undulating transverse line. Below this is a curved line of seven or possibly eight pellets running underneath. The other side of the weight has a motif set within a circular border divided by a transverse line creating an upper and lower field. The upper field contains the letters ()TC and the lower field contains the letter E. Suggested date: Post Medieval. Diameter: 17.91mm, Thickness: 5.92mm, Weight: 8.43gm.
