A cast copper alloy clothes fastener. The object appears to be only part of something. A curved half cylinder of copper alloy plate forms the main part of the artefact; the front surface of this is decorated with a series of parallel criss-cross lines. This design is then frames within a raise line around the edges of the plate. The cylinder shape in wider at one end than the other, it tapers to the thinner end. Silver gilt clothes hook. Rectangular body with projections from each of the corners and between. The lowest projection is expanded and joins the hook. The body frames an incuse heart above a trefoil of circular indentations which may have originally contained stones. The back has a rectangular loop at the top at a right angle to the body.

loop with integral back plate. There is one copper alloy rivet towards the rear and on the reverse there is an indentation on the plate, towards the loop end. No evidence for a hole to attach a buckle pin, so possibly a clothing fastening.

A complete and well preserved double hooked fastener. This fastener has been cast in one, it measures 55mm in length and 17mm in width. It conists of a central flat rectangular panel, 28mm in length by 17mm in width, with two rectangular shaped arms (20mm length, 5mm width) each with a hooked terminal. Each arm projects at right angles from the centre of both of the short edges of the rectangular plate. A copper-alloy strap or belt fitting. The item is trapezoidal, resembling a rectangle that does not have its sides at right angles and the two shortest sides lean in the same direction. This appears to be a result of design as opposed to damage. The fitting is pierced in the centre of both of its long sides, presumbably for accomodating a bar on which the fitting would pivet. Any such bar is now missing. The frame broadens to 5.1 mm at the point where these piercings are, before tapering to 2.7 mm, which is the thickness of the rest of the frame. Cast copper alloy strap fastener. Late Iron Age 1st century AD in date. Boss form fastener within an ‘eye’ shape oval lozenge attached to a solid shank. This shank tapers outwards to the opposing boss terminus. The reverse of the topmost boss demonstrates the original position of the attachment loop although this is broken. The piece is suffering greatly from bronze disease. Used as cloak fasteners and for military equipment.

A copper alloy clothes fastening tag. The tag is circular, with one part missing, and a sub-triangular projection from one edge. The tag has a central iron rivet, and around this is a design formed of concentric rings, some beaded, and one containing a repeated design of small triple crescent arcs.
