A single disc from a Post Medieval four disc cloth seal probably dating from AD 1600 - 1800. The disc is circular. One face is stamped with crossed keys, a symbol of the City of Leiden in the Netherlands. The other face is plain. Measurements are; diameter 14.3mm, thickness 1.2mm and weight 1.77g. See Elton (2017) page 310 onwards.

The raised design of a sheep can be seen in the centre of its outer face. It is heavily corroded and there is a break across its centre. Originally this would have comprised two discs attached together via a lug projecting from the reverse of on and passing through a hole in the centre of the other. Now all that remains is the lug, squashed flat, with part of an unclear heraldic design on its outer end where it would have sat through the hole. A incomplete lead cloth seal or other seal dating from the post medieval period, about AD 1500 - 1800. It is a two disc seal with a connecting tab. An integral rivet from the back of one disc passes through a hole in the other and is flattened. The rivet disc is marked with a relief merchant's mark of a W with a vertical line and a numeral 4 at the top. The rove disc has an incuse marking which may represent a G. An 18th century lead bulla type cloth or flax bale seal of uncertain origin (possibly Russian). Sub-circular and flat with an elongated piercing horizontal to the face. The obverse depicts a double headed eagle (displayed) with an orb in right claw. An uncertain incomplete inscription above appears to read : NK / TEPEV17 with the figures 8 - 6 to either side above the heads, all in three lines. The reverse is plain. Diameter 22.2mm, thickness 3.7mm, weight 13.6g. A similar example on this database at NMS-23782C.

One face has two oval shields within an elaborate ropework border. The left shield bears an eagle displayed and the right shield a bowed dolphin with two saltires in the divided chief above. An incomplete and unidentified probably French or Low Countries lead cloth bag-seal, probably dating to the 16th-17th century. Circular and flat, one half of a two-disc type seal remains. The face has a depiction of a fleur-de-lis with a partial border of trefoil pellets visible at 5 o'clock. The reverse has a very fine hatching pattern with the remains of the rivet stub in the centre.
