A very worn lead alloy discoidal object with circular band, possibly a Medieval or Post Medieval cloth or related seal. The seal itself is discoidal with completely broken and misshapen circumference; it is possible this was originally circular in plan. There seems to be a gap between two symmetrical discs, suggesting perhaps that another element may have passed through this element, such as a chord. The circular band is broken on one end, where it would have connected to the disc; it is generally flat in cross-section with a raised ridge on both inner and outer circumferential edge…

Post Medieval cloth seal; very thin, circular, lead seal with torn section at the top where the back half has broken away. Seal has a raised oval section with the initials "I B" and a delicate twisted knot design between and around the letters. The reverse has some letters scratched rather crudely into its surface. The inscription is not clear, but may read 'et 9' above a horizontal line to the right of the seal. The style of lettering and design would seem to date this to the late 16th or 17th century. Diameter 21.36mm, thickness 2.96mm, weight 4.32g

This disc is plain on the reverse whilst the front carries the 'Charles II type head' with the inscription OF ENG LAND around the portrait, the border is decorated with a circle of beading. This particular seal probably dates to the reign of James II (1685-1688). A nearly complete, stamped lead alloy bale seal. The seal carries a mixture of Cyrillic (Russian) and Latin lettering. These seals are not uncommon finds and research is ongoing into the deciphering of their legends. This particular one is rather worn and difficult to read. It is thought that they were used for flax or linen crop (seeds etc.) or finished linen etc. Basically they give the quality grades and port of export of the goods, along with the names of officials involved in export customs. The seal most probably dates to the mid 18th century and is 28mm long, 22mm wide, 2.6…

A damaged and incomplete post-medieval cast lead cloth seal probably of 17th-century date. A two-part seal joined by a now missing loop, disc 1 bears a raised design, possibly a bird, surmounting letters, possibly 'IM'. The design and lettering are difficult to discern due to the rivet and losses accounting for nearly a third of the disc. Disc 2 simply bears an incuse letter 'B'. Such a personal clothiers'/weavers'/searchers' seal is very difficult to date precisely, although the incuse letter would seem to date it around the 17th century AD. Both discs have been bent, scratched and abraded.

An incomplete and damaged post-medieval cast lead cloth seal probably of 17th- to 18th-century date. This was probably a two-part seal joined by a loop; the loop survives straigtened, with the second disc missing.
