The strip is bent, presumably through use-the seal would have been wrapped around a bag and the circular ends stamped to seal the contents. This process has left an impressed design on one disc, featuring a sheild and anchor motif.
There have been some losses from the seal, notably from the base of the decorated disc and from the lead strip. The metal has a stable, uniform patina of pale grey overlain by soil in places.

A post medieval four part lead cloth seal. Two pairs of discs linked by sprue. A lug from one end disc is split like a treasury tag and inserted through the other disc. One disc depicts a quartered shield. The lower left quarter depicts a harp; the other three are unclear. The opposite side of that disc bears letters reading: DO//ZEN//77. The word 'dozen' refers to a woollen cloth originally 12 yards long (Geoff Egan, 1995, 'Lead Cloth Seals and Related Items in the British Museum'. p.145).
An identical cloth seal was found in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire and is recorded on the PAS da…

A post-medieval cloth lead seal. The seal comprises two circular discs joined by a small tab at the top. One side displays a shield with an arched top. Across the top of the shield is a band containing a horizontal row of three five-pointed stars. The shield is set within a circular perimeter of pellets. The reverse has two lines of numbers scratched into it, probably reading: 6389//?7242. The number '2' is represented by an angular 'Z'.
The seal probably dates to the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century.

A lead cloth seal. The seal is comprised by two incomplete circular discs joined together. The joining tab is missing. One side depicts the rear half of what appears to be a hanging sheep akin to the motif found on the Order of the Golden Fleece. A partial letter 'A' survives indicating that an inscription once surrounded the animal. The other side is flat and has the numbers XXII crudely scratched onto it. Further numbers may be located beneath this but it is difficult to tell if it is wear or intentional engraving.

An incomplete lead object, probably a Post Medieval lead alloy cloth alnage seal dating 1707-1714.
The object is oval, flat and has an incomplete perimeter. This is probably one disc from a two-disc cloth seal. One side is decorated with a Shield with arms of post 1707-Union Britain, Garter with motto [HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y] PENSE around.
A very similar seal is illustrated in Egan (1994:75 no. 196), and another is recorded on the PAS database as LON-5E1AD2.
