Lead alloy fragment from a Post Medieval cloth seal. The fragment is sub-discoidal (as flattened by the alnage seal matrix) with a short flat tab projecting to one side. The seal depicts a crenelated castle wall with an arched entrance gateway; above the wall part of an arcing beaded border can be seen. Cloth seals depicting images of castles are commonplace in Norfolk, as a lion surmounted by a castle is the arms of Norwich. No lion is evident on this partial impression and insufficient survives to be definitive, especially since many other non-Norwich seals depicting c…

An incomplete lead medieval or post-medieval cloth seal. Only one disc now survives. A sub-cylindrical sprue projects from the centre of the reverse, which would have passed through a hole on another disc originally, securing them together. The outer face is decorated with unclear lettering surrounding a porcullis design in the centre.
Similar designs are found on a number of two-part late medieval and early post-medieval seals illustrated by Egan (1995, 175-6, fig.24&25) and suggest that it is probably an alnage or subsidy seal.

An incomplete lead post-medieval or modern tag or button. The object is disc-shaped with a misshapen sprue projecting from the centre of the reverse and squashed against itself. A section of the disc is missing to one side. The outer face is decorated with the raised letters 'L//IONA/STAB' in three lines in the centre surrounded by unclear lettering around the outside.
The style of lettering suggests a relatively modern date and the object may be some sort of button or more probably a trade or customs tag for commercial goods.

Post Medieval lead alloy object – probably either half of a cloth seal or a fragment of the square inner part of a four-part cloth seal, dating to c.AD 1500 - 1800. Alternatively, the object may have been a Post Medieval square token which could have been used as a tally, gaming piece, ticket or weight. The object is sub rectangular in shape. The back surface is flat and unmarked, the front surface has a raised image, possibly a face wearing a headdress, or more likely in the case of a cloth seal, a bent over tab where the rest of the seal would have been attached and which has b…
