A probable incomplete Medieval to Post Medieval lead alloy cloth seal, c.AD 1300-1700.
Description: This is probably one half of a two-part lead seal. It is missing the thin connecting portion of lead that would have held the two faces together. The obverse of this seal has a cross-hatched grid design, superficially similar to the portcullis designs found on some official seals. The reverse has a raised border of uneven width surrounding a central area which is either very uneven or bears the remains of a degraded and now undecipherable design.
