A post medieval two disc lead alloy cloth seal of Taunton in Somerset. The obverse has a letter ‘T’ with a barrel (or ‘tun’) placed across the centre. This is a punning device/rebus which makes a visual reference to the name of the town (‘T-tun’ for Taunton). The inscription reading from 7 o’clock is TA[NTON . SA]RGES giving the name of the town and the type of cloth. The reverse appears to have a castle, church or town gate with legend [...]IO[...] around; this likely the name of the serge-maker (possibly IO[HN...]).

A very abraded lead bulla type 'eagle & dolphin' Post Office bag seal dating to c.1690-1708. Sub-circular and flat, with an oval piercing through the horizontal plane. One face has two oval shields within an elaborate ropework border. The left shield bears an eagle displayed and the right shield a bowed dolphin with two saltires in the divided chief above. A sub-circular lead alloy Post Medieval cloth seal bearing the Tudor arms of England, so dating from about AD 1485 - 1603. It is a uniface disc bearing a quartered shield with three lis in the lower right quarter and three lions in the quarter above. It may have been part of a four disc or two disc cloth seal. The diameter is 11.2mm, thickness 1.2mm, and weight is 1.0g. Compare  SWYOR-6451B9, WILT-032F20 and pages 17 and 153 in Elton (2017).
