An incomplete lead alloy Cloth Seal of Modern date (AD 1800-1900). The object is composed of two sub-circular discs connected by three short rectangular tabs with the two discs folded to meet, the space between the discs, running through the centre from top to bottom, through which twine or thread could be passed. The retained lettering is partially legible on one surface around the circumference reading [??]AMARA A[???].

The metal is grey in colour with a predominantly smooth patina.

An incomplete probable Post Medieval lead cloth seal dating to c. AD 1500-1700. The seal is sub-oval in plan, with two sub-oval lead faces pressed either side against a central lead face. There is a slightly raised border on each face where the seal was originally stamped, but the stamps are too degraded to distinguish any design or legend. Part of the lead face is missing on one of the faces, due to old damage. The find has a light cream patina.

A near complete, lead two-disc cloth seal, dating to the reign of George I (AD 1714-1727). The cloth seal is comprised of two circular discs and a connecting strip. The Obverse features the relief-stamped bust of the king, who faces right within a ribbed border, the legend is not visible. The Reverse features a crown surmounted by a lion, again within a ribbed border. There is an 'I' in the left field and '1/2' in the right field, referring to the duty in pence. The seal is in poor condition and has a light grey, brown patina.

An incomplete lead post-medieval cloth seal. Both discs survive, but the connecting strip is now missing. One disc features raised unclear letting with what appears to be the date 155[] below. The other features a sheep fleece/hanging sheep surrounded by a circle of pellets.
See PAS records YORYM-1684C3, PUBLIC-A6EBF2, NMS-F74ACA, HESH-136956, LIN-7988E4, DUR-AE5581 for comparison. The sheep fleec/hanging sheep features on the City of Leeds coat of arms and it seems likely that these seals are alnage/subsidy seals associated with the wool trade there.

An incomplete lead post-medieval cloth seal dating to the year AD 1664. Only one disc of an originally two-part seal survives. The outer face has the raised letters 'CAR/ SAY/ 1664' in three lines. There is a small break to one side where a strip would have projecting originally, attaching this to another disc.

Description:
The surviving fragment consists a single disc (disc 1) of a two- or four-part cloth seal, a small part at the edge of the disc is folded over and this may be a remnant of the connecting strip (or of disc 2 in the case of a four-part seal).
The disc features a large closed letter C, inside a raised circle.
On the reverse of the disc, is another raised circle surrounding an undistinguishable design.

A Post-Medieval lead cloth bag seal fragment with barrel or tun motif, dating to c. AD 1550-1600. The seal has been rolled and somewhat flattened although the barrel/tun motif is intact. The motif is cylindrical, raised and moulded and consists of four horizontal loops to the top and three to the bottom, probably representing metal hoops and four vertical lines probably representing five wooden staves.

A complete lead post-medieval double cloth seal. It is formed from two double discs of lead joined to one side via an integral loop while an integral rivet projects from the reverse of one of the outermost discs, passing through a hole in the other outermost disc. Decoration seems to be restricted to the outer faces of the innermost discs. One has the raised design of a harp and the other raised lettering in three lines: 'M []//FA X//[][]

Object is complete, circular, lead, cloth seal, likely post-medieval in date. The object consists of two discs connected by a central stud, both discs are still intact. The obverse feature a central 'Y' which is crowned. The reverse has some pictoral engraving visible, along with the initials ‘I S’ at approximately 9 o'clock. The reverse is more severely folded than the obverse. Overall the seal has a like grey and brown patina.

Incomplete post-medieval lead cloth seal. Only disc one with its integral rivet survives. The front is stamped with the arms of Haarlem: A sword erect between four mullets a cross potent in chief, on an ornate shield within a circular border, all in relief. The edges are deformed and the legend is illegible. The rivet bears the number 19 in stamped relief. A close parallel on this database is NMS-8EE8EA. 17th century.

A near-complete cast lead cloth seal of Elizabeth I (c. AD 1558-1603). The seal is made of two sub-circular discs (diameter 24.4mm, 4.6mm thick) joined at one end by a folded strip. One side bears the relief of the coat of arms for Elizabeth I with E R separated by a crown above and 6 beside. The other side is illegible and smashed into the reverse of the other disc.
The object is a pale buff and weighs 11.45g.

A complete lead cloth seal of post medieval date (c.1400-1724). The object is made up of two circular disks, the upper circular disk has a convex surface and two traingle shaped rivets on its back which pierce the second plate so that they are held together. Both disks also have rivets at the upper hemishpere which wrap around the other to hold to two in place.
Cloth seals began to be applied in the medieval period, with documentary references from the late 14th century onwards (Egan 1998, 261); the alnage was administered until 1724 (Egan in Saunders (ed.) 2001, 43)

A complete lead cloth seal of post-medieval date, dating from the 17th or 18th century. The seal consists of two discs joined by a narrow tab at the top. One face has a rope-like circular perimeter set in relief. Within this are the capital letters B&A, separated by an ornate vertical line. The opposite side is scratched with two sets of numbers arranged one above the other: 9773/31. A final '1' might be located behind a line of damage which runs across the face, possibly thus rendering it '311'.

An incomplete two-disc lead cloth seal dating to the early Post Medieval period (c. AD 1550-1605). The object is roughly oval in plan with a sprue and has the partial remains of one disc retained in the centre of the more complete disc. On one face are the Roman numerals XLIII and on the opposing smaller face is depicted a portcullis.The object has a white patina.

A small lead Post Medieval cloth seal dating from AD 1640. It is two discs of a four disc seal. One bears the Prince of Wales feathers in a crown, above the date 1640. The other depicts a three masted sailing ship. The seal is 14.9mm long, 10.8mm wide, 3.0mm thick and weighs 2.29g.
The finder reports that Stuart Elton has identified this seal as a West County alnage seal. A close parallel is NARC-381F55.
