A 17th/18th century lead single disc of a four-disc alnage cloth seal dating to c.1603-1724. Sub-oval with a rectangular connecting strip above. The face depicts a crowned thistle with the numerals 1 - 1/2 to either side (alnage fee). The reverse is plain and the surface displays a light buff colour. Height 17.3mm, width 13mm, thickness 1.1mm, weight 1.2g. The alnage system ended in 1724. Similar examples on this database at: DEV-F01E00, DOR-06A417 and LIN-DE9542 and see Egan (1994), pp.178.

An 18th century lead bulla type cloth or flax bale seal of uncertain origin (possibly Russian). Sub-circular and flat with an elongated piercing horizontal to the face. The obverse depicts a double headed eagle (displayed) with an orb in right claw. An uncertain incomplete inscription above appears to read : NK / TEPEV17 with the figures 8 - 6 to either side above the heads, all in three lines. The reverse is plain. Diameter 22.2mm, thickness 3.7mm, weight 13.6g. A similar example on this database at NMS-23782C.

An incomplete lead fragment from a 'four part' cloth seal, probably dating to the early 17th century. Lozenge shaped and flat, with sub-rectangular attachment strips at either end. The seal face depicts a crowned harp within a scribed lozenge border. The reverse is plain and the surface displays a light buff colour. Length 21.6mm, width 16mm, thickness 1.2mm, weight 2.4g. A single uniface disc from a four disc type lead alnage cloth seal issued during the reign of George I dating to c.1714-24. Circular and flat. The face has a crowned shield bearing the impaled arms of England (three lions passant) and Scotland (a lion rampant). Flanking the shield are the figures 1 - 1/2 that relate to the one and a half pence alnage fees paid. The reverse is plain and the surface displays a light grey colour. Diameter 14.7mm, thickness 0.9mm and weight 1.2g. A similar seal can be seen at: SUR-613C72 and in S Elton (2017) p.174.

An incomplete German lead two-disc type, Augsburg cloth seal dating to c.1500-1650. Circular and flat, one face of the seal depicts a pinecone with a trefoil terminal surrounded by a circle of cinquefoils, all within a toothed outer border. The reverse consists of just the central rivet that bears a letter A with a chevron bar. The pine-cone is the heraldic badge of the city of Augsburg. The left shield bears an eagle displayed and the right shield an embowed dolphin with two saltires in the chief above, all within a toothed border. The reverse is illegible. An incomplete and unidentified probably French or Low Countries lead cloth bag-seal, probably dating to the 16th-17th century. Circular and flat, one half of a two-disc type seal remains. The face has a depiction of a fleur-de-lis with a partial border of trefoil pellets visible at 5 o'clock. The reverse has a very fine hatching pattern with the remains of the rivet stub in the centre. The surface is a light buff colour. Diameter 19.8mm, thickness 2.8mm and weight 3.7g.

Lead alloy fragment from a Post Medieval cloth seal. The fragment is sub-discoidal (as flattened by the alnage seal matrix) with a short flat tab projecting to one side. The seal depicts a crenelated castle wall with an arched entrance gateway; above the wall part of an arcing beaded border can be seen. Cloth seals depicting images of castles are commonplace in Norfolk, as a lion surmounted by a castle is the arms of Norwich. A Russian bi-face flax bale seal dating to c.1754-1829. Sub-round and flat with an elongated attachment aperture through both sides. The obverse has an inscription of : AAS / RKVY / KOHb• / H69 in four lines, all within a raised circular border. The reverse has an inscription of NP / HY12H / (3rd line - date unclear). The code for flax bales was NP and was used during the period 1754-1829 Oval 22.4mm x 19.4mm, thickness 4.2mm and weight 12.5g.
