The object is made from cast lead. In plan the object is sub-circular with an integral semi-circular loop protruding from the upper edge. One face of the object has a high-relief rope-like border, with the inscription in the centre. Moulded with the rope-like border are two 'clips' as if to mount the rope. Either side of the ME there is a six-pointed star with a central circular cell. On the reverse, which is scuffed, there is a crown with an 'N' below. The item appears to be made of two sub-circular discs which are on top of each other and connected by an integral rectangular ribbon. However on closer inspection the item appears to be cast as one thick disc. On each face a design has been ?cast. One design is two high-relief shields, however the design is indistinguishable. The reverse appears to have two letters 'R' and '?E'

The cloth seal is made up of two discs and a connecting strip. There appears not to be a stud, or a hole through which the stud went on either of the discs. The discs appear to be pushed together. One face has 'SL' intertwined in the centre. Around which the inscription is '41ob ยท S O M E R S E T'. The reverse has '[ ]GRIX' across the top with a shield below. The shield is divided into quarters, and it appears that the upper quarters are also quartered. Details of the shield are not clear.

The cloth seal is composed of two large circular discs which are connected by an integral strip. One disc is slightly smaller than the second. Both discs are complete and there is no circular openwork or stud on either of them. There are some brown/red fibres protruding from between the discs. The lead seal is formed by two sub-circular discs connected by an integral ribbon The seal is folded at the ribbon. One disc has a hole in the centre through which an integral stud from the second disc is pushed through. The surface which has the stud pushed through has been flattened and has a device stamped on it. The device is a portcullis, with a possible crown above. It is surrounded by a legend, but only one letter is clear. Whether there is a device on the other face is not certain.

The cloth seal is sub-circular in plan. The seal is made of two discs, which are connected by a connecting strip. One disc has a rivet which fits through the hole of the second disc and then is flattened. The surface of the rivet disc has a design which has a probable thistle, which is represented by an oval shaped body with sub-lozenge shaped cross-hatching. Two-part lead-alloy cloth seal comprising two opposing circular plates with folded connecting strip. No sign of a rivet. Probably a weaver's/clothier's seal. One side contains the inscription: L (meaning length) XIII Other side has inscription: W (width) XX[X]X Probably 17th C. in date. Measures 27.8mm long, by 21mm wide (diameter of circles), by 3.5mm thick (total). Each plate measures 1.4mm thick. Connecting strip is 7.4mm wide. Weight = 11.66g.

Lead alloy cloth seal. This seal has a diameter of 14.42mm, is 1.58mm thick and weighs 1.49g. It is circular in plan, with a small knop to one side which fromed part of the attachment. On one side of the seal is an Irish style harp with an I above. The reverse is very worn and the design cannot be discerned. It is probably 17th century in date.
